Throwback Thursday #4

throwback_thursday1Throwback Thursday is a weekly meme hosted by The Housework Can Wait and Never Too Fond of Books.

Here’s how it works:
  • Pick any bookish or literary-related media (or non-media item) released more than 5 years ago.
  • Write up a short summary (include the title, author, and cover art, if applicable) and an explanation of why you love it. Make sure to link back to The Housework Can Wait and Never Too Fond of Books in your post.
  • Link up your post at The Housework Can Wait or Never Too Fond of Books.
  • Visit as many blogs as you can, reminisce about books you loved, and discover some “new” books for your TBR list – or some other classic!

This weeks pick:

A Prisoner of Birth by Jeffrey Archer

Synopsis as per Goodreads:

If Danny Cartwright had proposed to Beth Wilson the day before, or the day after, he would not have been arrested and charged with the murder of his best friend.

And when the four prosecution witnesses are a barrister, a popular actor, an aristocrat and the youngest partner in an established firm’s history, who is going to believe his side of the story?

Dannny is sentenced to twenty-two years and sent to Belmarsh prison, the highest security jail in the land, from where no inmate has ever escaped.

But Spencer Craig, Lawrence Davenport, Gerald Payne and Toby Mortimer all underestimate Danny’s determination to seek revenge and Beth’s relentless quest to win justice, which forces all protagonists to fight for their lives

Why I Liked it?

It was an amazingly captivating, hard to put down, blow your socks of kind of read. I myself am a lover of romance and all things happy and pretty – and even though this book didn’t have to  much of that in it – it was still pretty dang awesome.

Danny is an extremely likable character. As he develops you just fall more and more in love with him. And I have to say, that the intricacies in the plot was extremely well thought out and diabolical.

If you are feeling like some intrigue pick this one up!
